Opening a World of Learning Opportunities
for Students with Special Needs

March 15, 2008

Denise is an incredible 9-year-old girl who happens to be blind, and has developmental delays and sensory issues. She has been in Ms. Dean's classroom for a little more than 2 years now and her progress in all developmental areas has been great.

Ms. Dean has a way with all her students because she truly cares and she "gets" them. Denise is learning how to be more independent, make choices and decisions about day-to-day things, respond and transition without having to be prompted so much, and her conversational skills are growing by leaps and bounds every day.

In Ms. Dean's class Denise has had the opportunity to experience many community activities and she is learning valuable travel safety and life skills along the way. She also cares deeply about all her friends and talks about them all the time.

Thank you to JoAnna and your staff for all you do.

Here are just a FEW things that Tony has acomplished.

Tony has improved significantly these last years that he has been in Ms. Dean's class. He has improved his speech. He can sign and he now knows his ABC's and his numbers.

He has learned to socialize and make friends. He is not afraid of dogs, which he was terribly afraid of when he started.

He has overcome some of his other fears and he is more independent. Most importantly he is potty trained!!!

Couldn't have done it without your help Ms. Dean! I will be forever in your debt!!!!
