The
Special L.I.N.K.S. Learning Center provides an individualized year-round
education in functional, pre-academics and life skills for students of
any and all multiple disabilities from early childhood to transition into
adulthood. We also offer a variety of developmental therapy services including
physical, occupational, speech and vision therapy, along with music therapy,
art, dance, self help skills, warm water therapy, and independence skills.
Our students are taught by a wonderful and dedicated staff of teachers,
paraprofessionals, therapists and administrative personnel, with JoAnna
Dean (co-founder) as the Special Education Teacher and Program Director.
Ms. Dean's commitment to her students is unprecedented. She truly met
her calling in life when she entered special education. She
has a deep compassion and understanding of each individual student, their
family, and their educational needs. She has the highest of expectations
and genuinely believes that every child, regardless of ability, has the
right to learn and be an active member of the community.
Special L.I.N.K.S. is also a place where a parents point
of view is not only understood, but respected and encouraged. Where the
children are wanted and loved. Where they are listened to and their choices
and abilities are praised. Where the standards are high and the red tape
is low. Where education is taken seriously, staff is respected and kids
(regardless of their abilities) are held in the highest regard.
